At the last meeting a number of fundraising reports were given, and Mr. Studer made an administration report. He discussed Common Core changes to curriculum, teacher professional development training, and the anti-bullying campaign at CHIME. There are a few open volunteer positions still open, most importantly the Carnival Co-Chair positions.
Well everyone, we are already off to a vibrant start—membership forms are coming in; we have great enrollment in the Pizza/Baked Chicken Nuggets program for our music department; room parents are getting organized, SpiritWear sales and pre-orders are HOT; Free Money & Rebate programs are renewing; and art cards and Innisbrook fundraisers are in the works!
Our first meeting of the year will be on Wednesday, September 17 at 8:30 am at the lower-grade lunch tables (the garden is already booked for that morning). Please see the calendar for all upcoming meeting dates. Evening meetings will be in the auditorium and morning meetings will be in the garden, except this first one.
We still have many openings for committee members, so if you are considering how you might help the school, look over the list! And if you know someone you think might be perfect for a job please don’t hesitate to make the suggestion. Some of our positions require very little work or are needed only once a year, and they are all rewarding ways to participate in the community.
All who are interested in knowing more about the construction going on in our midst are encouraged to come to the Construction Open House, September 4, at 6:30pm in the auditorium. Our director Erin Studer will explain what we can expect as far as “living with the construction” and will describe the exciting new additions that are planned for our campus.
The new structure will house 16 new classrooms (two of which will be science and demonstration labs), a new library, and additional office and conference room space.
For field space, we’ll have new basketball courts, a refurbished soccer field, and new equipment for playing in the “old bungalow” and “dead zone” areas.
The project is scheduled to be completed in a year. Building construction will hopefully be completed by mid-spring. Then the brown bungalows will be removed, and following that all of the landscaping and ramp construction can take place.
